THE CONSIGNMENT CLOSET

Guidelines

​

Our consignment period is 60 days.

It generally takes about 7-10 days to process your order and have it put on our sales floor.

You will receive an email with all your inventory descriptions, pick up dates and prices.

We go over the items at drop off and let you know what we are willing to accept at that time.

We have two scheduled mark downs, 10% after 30 days and 25% after 45 days.

We do have sales and special events that may allow us to mark down items earlier.

You have a 10 day grace period after your initial pick up date to come retrieve your merchandise.

It is your responsibility to pull your own merchandise.

We will give you an updated sheet of what is unsold when you come for your pickup.

If you do not come in during that time the merchandise will become the property of the shop.

We pay out 40% of the final sales price, excluding tax.

We have pay outs that go as high as 75% on those higher priced, high end couture items like Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada etc.

 

Seasonal consignment schedule:

Summer: April, May, June, July

Fall: July, August September

Winter: October, November, December

Spring: January, February, March

 

What we accept and what sells best

Moderate to better branded clothing - think Nordstrom, Macys, Neiman Marcus and the like.

Better branded mall and specialty shops like Anthropologie, WH/BM, Talbots, etc.

We do not accept Target, Walmart, Forever 21 and similar lower priced clothing lines unless they are new with tags.

Handbags - always sell best. That is where you will make your money quickest.

Accessories - also great sellers! Cosmetic cases, wallets, change purses, gloves, hats, scarves and similar items. 

Items that are new with tags and can be re-gifted are always quick to sell so don't hesitate to bring them in.

What might not have been the perfect gift for you might be perfect for someone else!

We accept clothing sizes XS - 3X.

Tops - are always good to consign. They are easy fits and we generally will sell 30 to 40 tops for every on bottom so go heavy on tops when consigning.

Bottoms - we accept pants in the fall and winter, shorts and capris in the spring and summer.

We do not accept special occasion clothing or business suits. Casual always sells best in our shop.

Dresses - these sell quicker in the summer, think casual easy wear.

Skirts - the more casual the item the quicker it will generally sell.

Shoes, boots, sandals and footwear in sizes from 5 to 11, in good condition.

Jewelry - the general rule is that if we can't put at least $10 on your resale item we are not going to take it.

Small home décor and furnishings - think items that can easily be added to someone's home as a decorative item. 

We will not take dishes, appliances or anything that falls into that category. We do not generally take antiques.
